At the heart of the Chester Northgate development project, lies the New Chester Market. Designed to be distinctive, memorable and exuberant, and proudly inspired by Chester’s heritage combined with a modern touch, the market needed to be something beyond the ordinary.
Vestra Oak were approached to design and manufacture solid oak frames to bring this vision to life.

The Vestra Oak solution
The project required over 60 tonnes of Oak. Working within the tight deadlines of the project, The Vestra Oak team manufactured the stalls in kit form for quick and easy install by the main contractors, Medlock FRB, on site.
The market stalls were constructed using over 60 tonnes of Seasoned Oak Beams, all jointed and prepared using our CNC production facility to 0.5mm tolerances.
The results
The finished product is an impressive display of craftsmanship. We believe it entirely fulfils the desire for ‘heritage with a modern touch’
Now hosting lush green plant shops, bakeries and street food vendors, and providing seating areas for people to enjoy their meals, the new stalls for the Chester Market have set the tone for years to come.
