Our commitment
Oak is a natural, renewable, and sustainable material with a lighter carbon footprint than steel, aluminium, or concrete. Working with oak not only ensures a renewable source of material – it provides a natural beauty and durability that only hardwood can deliver. We wear the proof of our environmental ambitions on our sleeves, and proudly source all our timber through our parent company Hardwoods Group who have FSC ® C134890 and PEFC/16-37-947 certification.
A sustainable construction material
Oak is a renewable, low‑carbon alternative to materials such as steel, aluminium and concrete. When forests are managed responsibly with thoughtful harvesting and consistent replanting, timber remains a resource we can build with for generations.
Our contribution to a greener future
Vestra Oak is affiliated with a horticultural nursery that germinates, plants and nurtures more than 10,000 oak (Quercus robur) trees each year. Growing from acorns, these young trees help restore woodland, support biodiversity and contribute to a more resilient natural environment.
Loss of biodiversity
Large-scale deforestation strips wildlife of food, shelter and habitat. As forests disappear, an estimated 137 species of plants, animals and insects are lost every day – over 50,000 in a single year.
Damage to the water cycle
Forests help regulate the water cycle by storing moisture within trees and vegetation. When these ecosystems are removed, this natural regulation breaks down, reducing water availability and affecting the balance of local ecosystems.
Soil erosion
Tree roots anchor and protect the soil. Without them, the land becomes exposed to wind, rain and flooding—leading to widespread erosion that degrades landscapes and threatens long-term ecological health.
