Vestra Oak

Oak Porch & Trusses for a Cheshire Country Home

A collection of exposed oak frames brings warmth, structure and character to this carefully crafted new-build home in Goostrey, Cheshire.

Client Requirements

The clients wanted to create a distinctive countryside home that combined traditional materials with a bright, contemporary interior. Reclaimed brickwork and carefully selected finishes would give the property an established, welcoming appearance, while expansive glazing would take advantage of the surrounding Cheshire views.

Oak framing was an important part of the design, helping to introduce natural warmth and craftsmanship throughout the property. The frames needed to make a strong architectural statement while working seamlessly with the open-plan layout and vaulted spaces.

The Vestra Oak Solution

Bespoke oak framing was incorporated across several key areas of the home.

Inside, substantial oak roof trusses span the vaulted entrance hall and principal living space. Their exposed posts, beams and braces celebrate the structure of the building rather than concealing it, creating impressive features that can be appreciated from both floors.

In the living area, the oak truss sits above a large glazed gable and sliding doors. This combination of natural oak and expansive glazing frames the countryside views while filling the room with daylight.

A handcrafted oak porch was also created for the main entrance. Its pitched structure, curved braces and exposed joinery complement the reclaimed brick elevation, introducing the character of the oak frame before visitors enter the house.

The Result

The completed oak frames provide a consistent architectural thread throughout the property. Internally, they add warmth and definition to the light, contemporary rooms, while the scale of the trusses emphasises the generous vaulted ceilings.

Externally, the oak porch creates a welcoming focal point and strengthens the connection between the new home and its rural Cheshire setting.

Together, the oak frames balance traditional craftsmanship with modern design, helping to give this carefully considered new-build home a distinctive and enduring character.
